TRADITIONAL HOUSES IN MESTA VILLAGE IN CHIOS ISLAND

	Recently, we took over a project related to the development of a hotel complex that will be composed of 24 traditional villas. One should take into consideration that the town of Mesta is an old castle, pentagon in shape and surrounded by a stone wall with various entrances around its periphery. The houses inside are all adjacent to each other and also made of stone. The narrow streets form paths that lead either to an exit from the castle or to the main square of the town which is located in the centre of the castle. The 24 houses that we are transforming into traditional villas are spread out from the center of the castle. They are two stories high and have similar shape, topographic and structural characteristics. During the restoration traditional materials (asbestolithos) will be used. Also the interior and exterior stone walls and the vaulted ceilings will be preserved.

		Every unit will be composed by a kitchen with a dining area that will be placed next to the entrance for lighting purposes, two (2) bedrooms and one (1) bathroom. Also every house has a fire place.The two levels are internally connected by a stone made staircase, while the floors, the window frames and the doors will be made out of wood. The fire places will be preserved for aesthetic and practical reasons. Even thought the fire place will provide a source of heating, heating and air-conditioning will be installed in every room.
